Nigerian Makeup Artist Shatters Guiness World Record for Longest Makeup Session

Theresa Emegwara, a Nigerian makeup artist known as TesGlam, has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest makeup application by an individual, surpassing the previous mark with a stunning 103 hours, 25 minutes, and 34 seconds.

The record-breaking moment came early on August 19, as announced by her media aide, Robert Ekat, in Lagos.

Emegwara, 28, began her ambitious challenge, dubbed Glam 4-144, on August 14 with the goal of reaching 144 hours of continuous makeup application.

Even after eclipsing the prior record set by Ghana’s Akosua Mantey Roselyn on April 3, 2024, she remains determined to push the boundaries further. “The support from my family and friends has been incredible,” Emegwara said. “This journey has been tough—I’ve cried and felt like quitting, but we’re not stopping until we hit 144 hours.”

Her marathon effort, approved by Guinness World Records, is expected to span roughly six days. Emegwara’s achievement joins a wave of Nigerian record-breakers, including chess master Tunde Onakoya and chef Hilda Baci, who have recently put the country in the global spotlight.
