Police Nab Robbery, Kidnap Suspects in Nasarawa
The Nasarawa State Police Command has dealt a significant blow to criminal networks in the state with the arrest of a notorious armed robbery suspect, Mohammed Bammi, also known as “Zomo,” and five members of a suspected kidnapping syndicate.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the arrests in Lafia on Sunday, describing the operation as a major step toward securing Doma and Awe local government areas.
Zomo, who had narrowly escaped capture last month, was apprehended during a clearance operation at Doka Forest after attempting to attack officers with a knife.

Investigators recovered dangerous weapons and other incriminating items at a hideout in Alagye Village, including a pump-action rifle, a locally made AK-47, live rounds, a knife, a rope, NSCDC uniforms, and mobile phones.
In a related operation in Gidan Taku Village, Awe Local Government Area, police arrested five men; Michael Ato, Richard Ato, Alom Bernard, Hangior Ato, and Jacob Hunde, also called “Okocha” linked to a kidnapping syndicate.
The suspects were reportedly involved in the abduction of Blessing John and her husband John Ada Kuje, for which ransom was demanded. Police recovered two locally made AK-47 rifles and a live round of ammunition from the gang.
The Commissioner of Police commended his officers for their bravery and urged them to sustain pressure on criminals until Nasarawa is free from armed robbery and kidnapping. All arrested suspects have been transferred to the Anti-Kidnapping Unit for investigation and prosecution.
