NASS Resumption Moved to October 7
The National Assembly has shifted the resumption of plenary sessions from Tuesday, September 23, to Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
This was contained in a notice signed by the Clerk of the Assembly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, and circulated to both senators and members of the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
“With deep regrets, Honourable Members are hereby informed that the resumption of plenary sessions earlier scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, 2025, has been rescheduled. The new date of resumption is Tuesday, October 7, 2025. Kindly take note and make the necessary adjustments to your schedules accordingly,” the notice read.
Although no official reason was given for the change, the two chambers had gone on their annual recess in July.

At the time, Senate President Godswill Akpabio instructed standing and ad hoc committees to continue with pending legislative work, prepare reports, and carry out oversight duties during the break.
The House of Representatives also encouraged members to use the recess period for constituency engagements, local issues, and monitoring of federal projects within their districts.
The annual recess is part of the National Assembly’s legislative calendar, designed to give lawmakers time to balance their national duties with constituency responsibilities and personal commitments.
Meanwhile, with the latest adjustment, plenary will now reconvene in early October.
