Armed men suspected to be bandits on Friday night abducted the Deputy Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammed Samaila Bagudo, shortly after he observed prayers at a mosque in Bagudo town.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafiu Abubakar, said the attackers stormed the area with sophisticated weapons, seized the lawmaker at gunpoint and took him away to an unknown location.

He disclosed that the State Commissioner of Police, Bello Sani, had set up a joint search and rescue team made up of police officers, soldiers, and local vigilantes to ensure the deputy speaker’s safe return.
Abubakar said the team had already begun combing nearby bushes and forests to track down the kidnappers, assuring that every effort would be made to rescue the lawmaker unhurt.
