Fuel Station Workers Urge IPMAN to Introduce Health Insurance Scheme
Independent marketers in Nigeria’s petroleum industry have been urged to introduce comprehensive health insurance packages for employees operating at fuel stations nationwide.
The appeal covers pump operators, sanitation workers, guards, supervisors, and other personnel within the downstream segment.

The appeal comes in the wake of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited’s recent rollout of a medical insurance initiative for staff working at its retail outlets across the country. Labour groups have praised the development, describing it as a timely intervention that prioritises workforce welfare.

Speaking in a statement released on Sunday in Kaduna, the Convener of the Concerned Petrol Station Workers, Ibrahim Zango, called on the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria to adopt a similar policy for workers employed by private operators.

According to Zango, the NNPCL scheme has established a benchmark that should be followed throughout the downstream oil industry, noting that access to healthcare must be recognised as a fundamental need rather than an afterthought.
