Ronaldo noted that despite spending much of his career chasing individual records and personal achievements, representing Portugal remained his greatest accomplishment.

He said his journey with the national team had taught him that his greatest victory was earning the opportunity to wear the country’s shirt.

Reflecting on his international career, the former captain acknowledged that it was not without disappointments, recalling difficult moments, defeats and occasions when he failed to meet the expectations of Portuguese supporters.

However, he maintained that those experiences never weakened his commitment or pride in representing his country.

He also expressed appreciation to his family, teammates, coaches and support staff, recognising their contributions and sacrifices throughout his 23-year journey.

Ronaldo urged young Portuguese footballers to remain ambitious, believe in their abilities and continue pushing the country’s football ambitions forward.

He called for new generations of players who would not give up on their dreams and would strive to achieve greater heights for Portugal.

“Portugal will always need young people who dream, players who never give up, and new generations who believe it is possible to reach places no one has reached before,” he said.

Although his international playing career has ended, Ronaldo assured supporters that his connection with Portugal would remain strong.

He recalled the feeling of standing alongside his teammates during the national anthem, describing it as a moment that brought people together regardless of their social backgrounds, professions, opinions or football loyalties.

He further pledged to continue supporting the national team and celebrating its achievements.

“The number 7 shirt remains, but the pride of having worn it will be mine forever,” Ronaldo said.
