Nigerian Defence Academy Warns Kaduna Residents to Avoid Live-Fire Zone

The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has issued a strong advisory to residents of Afaka, Kauya, and Mando in Kaduna State, urging them to stay away from its open range as a live-fire military exercise is set to commence.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by NDA Public Relations Officer, Major Muhammad Maidawa, the training exercise will take place from February 26 to March 1, 2025. The drill is part of the advanced application of fire package for Army Cadets of the 72 Regular Course, aimed at enhancing their combat skills.

Maidawa emphasized that the exercise will involve live ammunition, making it imperative for residents particularly farmers, pedestrians, and cattle herders to avoid the designated area. To prevent accidents, the NDA has put in place barriers and warning signs to demarcate restricted zones.

“The safety and well-being of all citizens in surrounding communities remain a top priority,” Maidawa stated. “We urge everyone to cooperate by staying clear of the area during the exercise to ensure both their safety and the success of the training.”

The NDA stressed that the exercise is a crucial component of military training, designed to equip cadets with practical battlefield experience. Residents have been urged to comply with the directive to avoid any unintended casualties and allow seamless execution of the training.
