Drivers operating on the LagRide app have stopped using the platform due to its poor performance and unfavorable policies.
The drivers, led by Comrade Stephen Iwindoye, spokesperson of the Lagos Chapter of the Amalgamated Union of App-based Transporters of Nigeria (AUATON), cited several concerns, including a new payment structure requiring a daily payment of N10,000, low demand, and the absence of Google Maps on the app.
The drivers’ decision follows a meeting with representatives of CIG Motors and Ibile Holdings, the local owners of LagRide.
The meeting aimed to address the drivers’ concerns, but no agreement was reached.
The drivers demanded a revised payment structure, app optimization, and the introduction of Google Maps.

They also called for a massive advertising campaign to drive demand and increase visibility.
According to Iwindoye, the problems began after the transition from the old LagRide management (Zeno) to the new management (CIG Motors).
The drivers claimed that the new app introduced by CIG Motors was worse than the previous one, with glitches and poor navigation.
They also criticized the new payment structure, which they said would negatively impact their financial stability.
The Executive Director of Lagos Ride, Hon Adeniyi Saliu, has directed the new management team to work on the improvements advocated for by the drivers.
This includes ensuring payments are disbursed within 24 hours and expanding the app’s coverage to every area in Lagos State and neighboring boundaries.
