US Deports 10 More Alleged Gang Members to El Salvador

US authorities have deported 10 additional alleged gang members to El Salvador, according to Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The latest group of deportees is said to be affiliated with notorious gangs like MS-13 and Tren de Aragua.

Rubio took to social media, stating that “another 10 criminals from the MS-13 and Tren de Aragua Foreign Terrorist Organizations” have arrived in El Salvador.

This announcement comes just one day before El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele is scheduled to visit the White House.

The Trump administration has long maintained a firm stance on immigration and gang-related issues.

Rubio highlighted that the alliance between former President Donald Trump and President Bukele has set an example for security in the region.

In recent court filings, US officials mentioned they were not obligated to assist a Maryland resident, Abrego García, who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador.

The administration clarified that it was only required to remove “domestic obstacles” rather than extract individuals from foreign prisons.

García, a 29-year-old Salvadoran migrant who held a work permit since 2019, was deported in March against an immigration judge’s order.

US administration lawyers confirmed that García remains in a notorious prison in El Salvador.

In related news, President Trump praised Bukele for his efforts in deporting what he termed as “enemy aliens” from the United States.

The Trump administration insists its vetting process ensures that only individuals linked to terrorist organisations are targeted.

However, lawyers and family members of the deported migrants argue that many of those sent to El Salvador had no opportunity to challenge these designations in court.

The contentious deportations have faced repeated challenges in federal courts, with the US Supreme Court mandating that immigrant detainees receive timely notice to contest deportations.

Similar cases have recently emerged, with hundreds of Venezuelans also being deported under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act.

This series of actions reflects a broader and ongoing struggle over immigration enforcement and the treatment of migrant communities in the United States.
