BRICS Policies: Trump Threatens Tariffs on Nations
In a fresh warning, former US President Donald Trump has said that countries supporting the policies of the BRICS alliance, which run counter to American interests, will face an extra 10% tariff on their exports to the US.
“Any country aligning itself with the anti-American policies of BRICS will be charged an ADDITIONAL 10% tariff. There will be no exceptions to this policy,” Trump posted on social media.
Trump’s stance adds pressure to global trade talks, especially as several nations continue to engage with the BRICS bloc, which includes China, Russia, and India. Known for his long-standing criticism of BRICS, Trump’s renewed threat comes at a time when trade negotiations are becoming increasingly tense.

Meanwhile, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent revealed that negotiations have seen a surge in activity. Speaking to CNBC on Monday, he said, “We’ve had a lot of people change their tune in terms of negotiations. So my mailbox was full last night with a lot of new offers and a lot of new proposals.”
So far, the United States has concluded trade agreements only with the United Kingdom and Vietnam, along with a partial deal with China. However, a sticking point remains in the US-UK talks, as both sides have yet to resolve the issue of tariffs on British steel exports to America.
