Edoline: Governor Suspends Bus Launch to Honour Buhari

Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has postponed the commissioning of 102 newly acquired buses under the Edoline Mass Transit Scheme as a mark of respect for the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The event, which was scheduled to unveil the modern buses and flag off the state’s rebranded public transport system, was put on hold in recognition of the national mourning period.
Governor Okpebholo described Buhari as “a towering figure in Nigeria’s democratic journey and governance history” and said it would be inappropriate to hold such a celebratory event while the country is grieving.
“As a people, we must reflect this period of national loss with appropriate solemnity. Therefore, we have decided to postpone the unveiling of the Edoline buses in honour of his memory,” he said.

He extended his condolences to Buhari’s family, the government and people of Katsina State, and all Nigerians feeling the impact of the loss.
While acknowledging the inconvenience the postponement may cause to invited guests and stakeholders, the governor appealed for understanding and promised that a new date for the commissioning would be announced soon.
