Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has dismissed two commissioners who were recently reinstated after being suspended, along with three other members of his cabinet. The announcement was made on Wednesday, with five new commissioner nominees appointed as replacements.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Musa Ashoms, confirmed the sackings in Jos, but did not provide further details regarding the reasons behind the governor’s decision. A letter from the Secretary to the Plateau State Government, Samuel Jatau, officially confirmed the disengagement of the five commissioners.

The dismissed commissioners include Hon. Sule Musa Haruna (Ministry of Commerce and Industry), Associate Prof. Obed Gossele Nanjul (Ministry of Science and Technology), Hon. Noel Naamiap Nkup (Ministry of Youth and Sports Development), Hon. Chrysantus Dawan (Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning), and Hon. Jamila Tukur Bitrus (Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Hospitality).

The governor expressed gratitude for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors. The newly appointed commissioners are Dr. Sunday Akpan, Rt Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, Arc. Sylvanus Dongtoe, Dr. Nicholas Baamlong, and Cornelius Doeyok.

Meanwhile, this action comes three months after the governor reinstated Dawan and Bitrus following their suspension in August 2024, only to dismiss them once again after a performance review.
