Gwagwalada and Bwari: FCTA Plans Bus Terminals

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) plans to build new bus terminals in Gwagwalada and Bwari,

aimed at enhancing security and improving transportation for commuters from these satellite towns into Abuja.

This was confirmed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during an inspection of ongoing projects on Saturday.

Including the International Conference Centre and the 12-kilometre Ushafa Road.

The new terminals will join those already under construction in Mabushi, Kugbo, and the Central Business District,

launched in June 2024 to tackle the rising menace of “one chance” crimes targeting commuters.

Wike said the expansion is part of a broader strategy to provide safer and more regulated transport hubs,

which will enable the administration to monitor buses and taxis more effectively and deter criminals.

“We have agreed to establish terminals in Gwagwalada and Bwari.

This will allow commuters to travel safely from these areas to Mabushi, Kugbo, or the Central Business District without fear,”the minister stated.

He added that passengers who choose to board from unofficial spots on the road do so at their own risk,

but the government will have provided safer alternatives.

Aside from the terminals, Wike expressed satisfaction with the progress on the Ushafa Road .

Revealed plans to dualise the Kuje-Gwagwalada Road to improve connectivity between satellite towns and the city.

Several of these projects are scheduled for commissioning after the upcoming Sallah festivities,

marking the second anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
