Portable Sentenced for Assault
Controversial musician Portable, whose real name is Habeeb Okikiola, has been sentenced to three months in jail for assault. However, he escaped imprisonment after paying a fine of N30,000 as prescribed by the court.
The Chief Magistrate, Babajide Ilo, found Portable guilty on two counts of assault and sentenced him to one month’s imprisonment with an option of a N10,000 fine and two months’ imprisonment with an option of a N20,000 fine.
The charges against Portable included assaulting Osimosu Emmanuel Oluwafemi and stealing musical gadgets. The court ultimately convicted him of assault.
Portable was arraigned before the Magistrate Court in April 2023 and initially granted bail. He failed to appear in court for some time, leading to his remand in the state Correctional Service before being brought back to court for judgment.
