Dangote Refinery Begins Free Fuel Deliveries to Marketers
Dangote Refinery has started giving out petroleum products to Independent fuel marketers in Nigeria at no transport cost, following the rollout of compressed natural gas-powered trucks.

The President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Shettima, confirmed on Friday that deliveries had begun in Lagos, Ogun, Ondo and other South-Western states.
“Dangote has started the free delivery. Already, the trucks have begun moving and discharging products in most parts of the Western Zone. My members are very pleased with the development,” Shettima said.
Earlier in the week, the refinery deployed over 1,000 trucks, part of a 4,000-vehicle fleet ordered from China. The scheme, initially scheduled for mid-August, was delayed by shipping challenges. The remaining trucks are expected before October.

Shettima explained that only registered marketers would benefit from the logistics-free supply, but noted that registration is still open and can be completed online.

The initiative has begun to influence pump prices. According to the IPMAN president, fuel is expected to drop from ₦865 per litre to about ₦841 as supplies spread. Some filling stations, including MRS outlets, have already lowered their prices.
The direct distribution system is intended to reduce costs by cutting out middlemen, while providing relief to motorists burdened by higher fuel prices since the removal of subsidy in 2023.
