Governor Otu Appoints New CPS in Media Office Shake-Up
Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has approved a shake-up in his media team,
appointing Linus Obogo as Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity,
while reassigning Nsa Gill as Special Adviser on Public Affairs.
The appointments, announced Tuesday in a statement by the Secretary to the State Government,
Professor Anthony Owan Enoh, are part of ongoing efforts to reposition the administration’s communication strategy.
Obogo, a veteran journalist and former Deputy Editor of ThisDay newspaper, is expected to bring renewed direction to the governor’s media operations.
“His Excellency, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, Governor of Cross River State, has approved the appointment of Mr. Linus Obogo as Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity,” the statement said.
“Obogo’s appointment is in line with the administration’s commitment to strengthening its information machinery for effective and responsive communication.”
In a corresponding move, Mr. Nsa Gill, who served as Chief Press Secretary since the start of the administration,
has been reassigned to a new portfolio as Special Adviser on Public Affairs.
According to the statement, Gill’s new role will focus on deepening public engagement and ensuring clarity and transparency in the state government’s communication with citizens.

“Similarly, the Governor has appointed Mr. Nsa Gill as Special Adviser on Public Affairs.
Mr Gill is expected to deepen the interface between government and the public, ensuring clarity, engagement, and transparency in policy communication,” the release added.
Gill is a well-known figure in the state’s media circles, having previously served as Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ),
Cross River State Council, and as a journalist with The Nation newspaper.
His reassignment is seen as a strategic move to enhance citizen-government interface at a time of heightened focus on policy delivery.
Obogo’s return to government service is being interpreted by observers as a bid to inject fresh perspective and national media experience into the administration’s communication structure.
He is expected to coordinate press relations, media strategy, and public messaging for the governor’s office.
The statement emphasized that both appointments are with immediate effect.
The reshuffling of the governor’s media aides comes amid increasing demands for improved transparency,
clearer policy messaging, and stronger media-government collaboration across the state.
As the administration continues to unfold its developmental agenda,
the new appointments are expected to help shape public discourse and bolster the government’s image in the eyes of residents and stakeholders.
