River State Police Command Found Dead : After allegedly shoots himself
Inspector Maxwell Zubu ,the Rivers State Police Command was found dead after allegedly shooting himself recently .
At Eagle Island, Port Harcourt, raising questions about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Zubu, a River state police command found dead , after allegedly shoots himself,
who until his death served as a security aide to a former Chairman of the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area,
Was discovered lifeless in what sources described as a suspected case of suicide.
The exact reasons behind his actions were yet to be determined as of the time of this report.
Eyewitnesses said they were alarmed when they heard a gunshot around the area on Tuesday afternoon.
Only to discover that a policeman had allegedly taken his own life.They alerted law enforcement authorities.
Officers from the Eagle Island Police Post, under the Azikiwe Police Division at Illabouchi in Mile 2 Diobu,
Swiftly arrived at the scene to secure the area and begin preliminary investigations.
The officer’s body was later moved to a nearby morgue pending further inquiries.
A senior police source, spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment publicly,
confirmed that the matter had been officially recorded and that the preliminary findings had been forwarded to higher authorities for review.
The source added that investigators would examine various aspects of the officer’s personal and professional life.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Superintendent of Police Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident.
“ while the circumstances surrounding Zubu’s death had not been fully established,
The police had opened a thorough investigation to determine both the immediate and remote causes of the incident” She said .
She explained the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) in Port Harcourt for a more detailed probe .
Residents have continued to express shock over the development, describing the late inspector as a respectful officer.
Others, sighted the mental health of officers, as an area that needs more attention.
The Rivers State Police Command had not released an official statement regarding any foul play actions.
Authorities have appealed to members of the public to remain calm and await the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
