SEC to Probe Alleged Fraud Linked to FF Tiffany Scheme

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced plans to launch a formal investigation into the operations of FF Tiffany, an entity accused of running a fraudulent investment scheme that has reportedly cost Nigerians billions of naira.

In a statement issued Tuesday in Abuja, the commission said initial findings show that the scheme offered investors unrealistic returns far above market expectations. It described the activity as not only deceptive but also a serious threat to public trust and the integrity of Nigeria’s financial system.

SEC assured that it is working in partnership with law enforcement agencies to track down those involved and ensure they face the full weight of the law under the Investment and Securities Act.

The commission also reiterated its warning to the public to stay away from unregistered investment platforms, especially those that guarantee unusually high returns. It emphasized that such schemes are not under SEC’s oversight and offer no legal protection to investors.

According to the statement, SEC is currently investigating 79 other similar operations and will provide updates upon completion of its inquiries.

Investors were urged to always verify the legitimacy of investment firms or products through the commission’s official website or communication channels. SEC restated its commitment to protecting investors and upholding transparency and confidence in the capital market.
