Adedola Delivers 102 Transformers To Light Up 435 Ogun Communities
The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation and senator representing Ogun West, Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, on Sunday distributed 102 transformers to 435 Community Development Areas across the three senatorial districts of Ogun State to mark his 56th birthday.
Adeola, who also oversaw the energisation of the transformers, said the initiative was in line with President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to improving electricity supply in communities nationwide.
The transformers, with capacities ranging from 500kVA/33, 500kVA/11, 300kVA/33 to 300kVA/11, were allocated according to the needs of the beneficiary communities. A total of 17 local government areas benefitted, including Yewa North, Ado Odo-Ota, Yewa South, Abeokuta North, Ifo, Obafemi Owode, Ewekoro, Sagamu, Ijebu Ode, Odogbolu, Ipokia, Ijebu North East, Ikenne, Ijebu East, Remo North, Abeokuta South and Ijebu North.
Speaking during the presentation at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion, Ilaro, Adeola, in a statement by his media aide Kayode Odunaro, said the gesture was in response to numerous requests from residents.
He said: “My office is constantly inundated with requests for transformers, and we have been facilitating their provision for several years. It is always a joy to bring light to homes and businesses through the supply and energisation of transformers, which aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu.”
Adeola added that the ‘Light-Up Ogun State’ project involves installing solar-powered streetlights along streets, in markets, communities, and palaces, with more than 16,500 poles installed so far across Ogun West and beyond.
He noted: “This facilitation is ongoing, as many communities remain in darkness due to damaged or insufficient energy infrastructure. I will continue to address these challenges, which are already documented in my office.”
The Minister of State for Health, Dr Iziaq Kunle Salako, said the birthday celebration was organised by friends and supporters of Adeola to honour his achievements.
Speaking to journalists at the event, Dr Salako remarked: “Solomon Adeola is a very responsive lawmaker. He cares for the people and serves selflessly. He is complementing Governor Dapo Abiodun’s giant strides in the state. This celebration is to thank God on his behalf and pray for his continued good health and service to the nation.The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee and Ogun State Commissioner for Housing, Jamiu Omoniyi, commended Adeola for facilitating the transformers and energisation for 435 communities, noting that the 56th birthday festivities were held simultaneously in Ogun East, Ogun West, and Ogun Central senatorial district.
