OAU Dental Student Dies by Suicide After Exam Results
A dental student of Obafemi Awolowo University has died by suicide, shortly after the release of examination results.
In a statement, President of the Ife University Dental Students’ Association (IFUDSA), Adebayo Idris, described the incident as a devastating loss for the faculty.
According to him, the death was “not just the loss of a promising young mind, but a reminder of the silent battles many students face.” He extended condolences to the student’s family, friends, and colleagues.

Idris urged students to support one another and seek professional help when in distress, stressing that mental health should be taken as seriously as physical health.
He also reaffirmed the association’s commitment to advocating for improved welfare and mental health support to prevent similar tragedies.
