Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has strongly criticized the Canadian embassy for denying visas to top military officials, including Defence Chief Christopher Musa.
Ribadu expressed his outrage during a security lecture, stating that Canada’s actions were “disrespectful” and a wake-up call for Nigeria to assert its independence on the global stage.
Defence Chief Musa was invited to Canada for a ceremony honoring war veterans but was denied a visa, along with other senior military officials. Musa described the incident as a “wake-up call” for Nigeria to strengthen its global standing.
Ribadu backed Musa, emphasizing the need for Nigeria to focus on self-reliance and strengthen its global influence. He also commended the Nigerian military’s efforts to combat insecurity and praised Musa’s leadership.
The incident has sparked debate over diplomatic relations between Nigeria and Canada, with some calling for a stronger response from the Nigerian government.
