The death of Joel isibor
Edo Government Vows Justice Slain Realtor, Joel Isibor.
The Edo State Government has called on security agencies to swiftly apprehend those responsible for the killing of Benin-based realtor and businessman, Joel Isibor.
Isibor, aged 42, was shot dead by gunmen who stormed his boutique at Second Ugbor, Benin City, last Friday. During a condolence visit to the grieving family on Monday, the Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, conveyed the deep sorrow of Governor Monday Okpebholo, describing Isibor’s death as a tragic loss of a vibrant young entrepreneur.
Idahosa assured the family that the state would leave no stone unturned in its quest to find and prosecute the killers. He issued a stern warning to criminal elements to leave the state, emphasizing that the government would use all legal means to bring them and their collaborators to justice.
He further disclosed that the government would work closely with security agencies to launch a thorough investigation into the murder and pledged unwavering support to the bereaved family.
“This is a heartbreaking incident. We are determined to ensure the perpetrators are found and prosecuted. The government will fully support the security agencies to achieve this,” Idahosa said.
Responding, Blessing Isibor, the widow of the slain businessman, thanked the government for its prompt intervention. She recounted how her husband was ambushed and shot while closing his shop, stressing that the attackers took nothing from the store. She described the killing as a brutal act and appealed for a full investigation to uncover the truth behind her husband’s death.
Mrs. Isibor expressed deep grief, noting that her husband was the family’s sole breadwinner, and urged the authorities to ensure Justice is served.
