EFCC Chair Dismisses Allegations of Political Witch-Hunt

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has rejected claims that the agency is being used to target opposition party members. Olukoyede emphasized that the EFCC’s work is not influenced by political considerations.

Olukoyede pointed out that a review of the EFCC’s cases would reveal that more members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are currently facing prosecution than opposition figures. He cited the Commission’s track record in handling high-profile cases as evidence.

The EFCC Chair noted that President Bola Tinubu is focused on ensuring that leaders of ministries, departments, and agencies fulfill their responsibilities effectively. Olukoyede described Tinubu as a working president who demands results from his team.

Olukoyede dismissed allegations of political witch-hunt as baseless and an attempt to distract the government. He urged Nigerians to appreciate the President’s commitment to good governance.

The EFCC remains committed to its mandate, investigating and prosecuting cases based on merit, regardless of political affiliation. Olukoyede’s statement aims to reassure the public of the Commission’s independence and impartiality.
