President Bola Tinubu has approved  the conversion of the Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) to a university, according to the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa.

This announcement was made during a working visit to the institution on Friday.

Dr. Alausa revealed that he had discussed the matter with President Tinubu, who swiftly approved the conversion.

The minister is now awaiting the necessary protocols and memo from relevant authorities to formalize the process.

YABATECH’s rich legacy and impressive academic credentials, with over 200 staff members holding doctoral degrees, made it an ideal candidate for university status.

Dr. Alausa praised President Tinubu’s commitment to education and his dedication to providing the best opportunities for Nigeria’s youth.

During his visit, Dr. Alausa also inaugurated and inspected various projects on campus, expressing his satisfaction with the management’s maintenance efforts, which have kept the facilities in good condition despite their age.
