“I Celebrate Divorce” — Comedian Bovi Says It’s Better Than a Toxic Marriage

Bovi Ugboma isn’t clapping for breakups just for drama. The stand-up comedian says he genuinely “celebrates when people get divorced.”
And he has a reason.
Speaking on “The Moraya Show”, Bovi explained his controversial take: divorce means freedom for someone who was suffocating.
“I celebrate when people get divorced because I feel it means one or both people were not breathing well in the marriage,” he said. “I will not suffer anybody neither will I want anybody to suffer me.”
For Bovi, the end of a toxic marriage is a relief not a failure. He argues it’s better to walk away than stay stuck in pain just to “keep up appearances.”
The comedian is quick to add that he’s not preaching from a perfect place. He’s been married for 17 years, since he was 29.
“That is not to say my marriage has been easy for 17 years. It has not. I have been providing for 17 years nonstop,” he admitted.
So his view comes from experience: marriage is work, but there’s a line where staying does more harm than leaving.
Bovi’s message is simple, choosing peace over suffering isn’t weakness. Sometimes ending things is the healthiest option for at least one person involved.
His comment has already sparked debate online with some agreeing that toxic marriages shouldn’t be glorified, and others arguing marriage should be fought for at all costs.
