‘I Said What I Said’ – YCee Stands By Peller Comment, Defends ‘Olodo Uprising’ Criticism

Nigerian rapper YCee is doubling down on his comments about the rise of “brain-rot” content in Nigeria, after backlash for calling it an “olodo uprising.”
YCee sparked debate when he used TikToker Peller as an example of the trend. He argued that more Nigerians are choosing shallow, “brain-rot” entertainment over edutainment.
Some fans criticized him for name-dropping Peller, saying he could have made his point without calling anyone out.
Speaking on Cool FM Lagos, YCee said he won’t apologize. “Some people are saying I shouldn’t have called Peller’s name, but I said what I said. If you feel offended, you should check yourself,” he stated.
He added that people are taking his words out of context. “The olodo uprising is even worse than I thought because there are so many people coming out to defend it”
YCee said his message is for Nigerians who are tired of low-value content online. “There is no reason why intelligent people cannot be streamers or content creators,” he said.
