Judge Rejects Nwabuoku’s Bid to Stop Trial, Cites Strong EFCC Evidence
A Federal High Court in Abuja has rejected a bid by former acting Accountant-General of the Federation, Anamekwe Nwabuoku, to halt his trial in the N1.96 billion money laundering case preferred against him by the EFCC.
Justice James Omotosho dismissed Nwabuoku’s no-case submission, saying the proof of evidence, including testimonies from nine prosecution witnesses, showed that there were issues needing clarification from the defendant.

The judge noted that the court was not declaring the ex-AGF guilty but insisted that he must respond to the allegations and explain his links to the funds he was accused of laundering.
He said the right to defend himself was constitutional and must be exercised, especially in light of the documents and witness accounts already before the court.
The matter was adjourned to November 24 and 25, and December 9, after the defence asked for time to organise its case.
