Kaduna Church Attack Leaves Worshippers Missing
By Shalom Ikuvbogie
Suspected bandits on Sunday disrupted a church service in parts of Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, abducting several worshippers and throwing the affected communities into fear.
The attackers were said to have invaded the area during worship activities, seizing men, women and children before taking them to an undisclosed location. Some victims reportedly managed to escape, but many were still being held as of the time of filing this report.
Confirming the incident, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna State, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, described the attack as painful and unsettling, saying families are anxiously waiting for news of their loved ones.
Residents said the gunmen operated for hours without any resistance, raising fresh concerns about the level of security in Southern Kaduna. They expressed worry that such attacks have become frequent despite repeated appeals for protection.
Attempts to get official comments from security agencies were unsuccessful, as the Kaduna State Police Command and military authorities had yet to issue a statement. The state government had also not reacted at press time.
