Governor Abdullahi Sule flagged off the initiative on Monday in Lafia, saying the project would strengthen access and retention for girls in school while addressing the quality of education offered.

The effort is part of the Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment (AGILE), a World Bank-backed programme focused on closing education gaps for girls in Nigeria.

Governor Sule said the state qualified for the project after fulfilling key conditions, including the release of a ₦150 million counterpart fund and meeting the requirements set by the Federal Ministry of Education.

He noted that the project would not only provide infrastructure and teaching support but also empower young girls with life skills that promote independence and personal growth.

He called on School-Based Management Committees and other stakeholders to handle the funds and resources with transparency and ensure full compliance with the approved work plan.

Sule also announced the ongoing recruitment of new teachers to be deployed to schools that will be established under the programme in the coming months, saying the goal is to ensure long-term improvements in education delivery across the 13 local government areas of the state.
