Northern CAN Condemns Plateau Killings

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the 19 Northern states and Abuja has condemned the recent killings in Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, describing the attacks as senseless and barbaric.

In a statement issued Tuesday in Kaduna, the group led by Rev. Yakubu Pam expressed deep sorrow over the violent incidents that claimed several innocent lives.

“These acts of violence are a threat to our peace and unity, not just in Plateau but across Nigeria,” Pam said.

He called on security agencies to act swiftly in arresting the perpetrators and urged the government to do more in protecting communities vulnerable to such attacks.

Rev. Pam also appealed to traditional rulers, religious figures, security operatives, and local groups to work together to end the recurring violence in Plateau State.

He said the association stands with the people of Bassa in their time of grief and called for justice, healing, and lasting peace.

“Plateau must not bleed again,” he said.
