Don Pedro Obaseki, Chief Executive Officer of Osamudia Farms, was reportedly attacked at Uwa Primary School in Benin City, where he had gone to play football, before being taken to the Oba of Benin’s Palace under controversial circumstances.
A video of the incident, which has since gone viral on social media, shows Don Pedro kneeling at the palace gate and later being dragged inside, where he was allegedly forced to crawl before the intervention of a palace chief who brought the ordeal to an end.

Reacting in a statement, Obaseki described the treatment of his cousin as a “grave violation of fundamental human rights and a reckless disregard for the rule of law,” warning that such actions undermine public confidence in justice and due process.
He called on security agencies to carry out an immediate, thorough and transparent investigation, insisting that those responsible must be identified and held accountable in accordance with the law. He further cautioned against a situation where “thugs and non-state actors” are allowed to take the law into their hands.
The former governor also urged human rights organisations, civil society groups and concerned Nigerians to speak out against what he described as an injustice, stressing that silence in the face of such acts could encourage lawlessness and impunity.
