Obi Calls for Issue-Based Election Campaigns
The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has urged political parties and contestants to make ideas and solutions to Nigeria’s problems the focus of their campaigns ahead of the forthcoming elections.
Obi made the call on Tuesday in a post on his verified X handle while reflecting on his attendance at the commissioning of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) Presidential Campaign Office in Abuja.
He said political competition should not lead to divisions among Nigerians, urging politicians to promote unity, love, justice, mutual respect and inclusion.

Obi said campaign discussions should address major challenges facing the country, including insecurity, poverty, hunger, inequality and the growing number of out-of-school children.
He urged political actors to place their commitment to Nigeria above their political differences and maintain respect and decency throughout the election period.

“We must insist that our shared love for our country should always be greater than our political differences,” he said.
He added that contestants should compete based on ideas that could bring Nigerians together, improve living conditions and restore hope.
Obi also congratulated Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, and other leaders and members of the APM on the commissioning of the party’s campaign office.
