Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working with the Federal Government to drive development across the state.
The governor made this statement when he received the Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, at the Government House in Benin City.
According to Okpebholo, Edo has witnessed significant growth under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. He described Edo as the President’s “adopted state” due to Tinubu’s keen interest in its progress.
He praised Madein’s leadership, saying her appointment was a great decision. He commended her for improving Nigeria’s financial system since assuming office.
“I welcome you to Edo State,” Okpebholo told the Accountant-General. “You have shown dedication to due process, and your work ethic proves you are the right person for the job.”
The governor expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for prioritizing Edo’s development. He assured that his administration would continue collaborating with the Federal Government to make Edo a model state.

“Even when we were in the opposition, I knew we were part of the APC family,” he said. “Many projects have come to Edo, and we will make it the envy of all.”
Earlier, Madein explained the purpose of her visit. She said her team was in Edo to assess the Federal Pay Office as part of a nationwide review.
“We are inspecting selected Federal Pay Offices across the six geopolitical zones,” she stated. “Edo is our choice for this zone.”
She also announced that the Federal Government was constructing a new building in Edo to house the Federal Pay Office.
“The office will serve as a treasury management hub for federal institutions in the state,” she added.
Governor Okpebholo pledged to support federal projects that benefit Edo people. He expressed faith that with continued collaboration, the state would achieve greater economic and infrastructural growth.
“God will guide us as we work to build a stronger Edo,” he concluded.
