Pastor Chris Okafor Appears before Police Amid Probe into Sexual Assault, and Other Allegations
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed that Pastor Chris Okafor, founder and senior pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, has presented himself to the police amid an ongoing investigation into allegations of rape and other offences considered capable of causing a breach of public peace.

Police sources disclosed that the cleric appeared before investigators on Tuesday after failing to honour an earlier invitation issued by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti. His absence on Monday reportedly led the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, to direct that he be arrested, prompting Okafor to report to the authorities the following day.
According to the Command, the case had already been under investigation at the Zone 2 Police Headquarters for several weeks before the recent developments. As a result, the matter has now been formally handed over to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, who is overseeing further investigations.
Police authorities said the decision to act swiftly was influenced by multiple complaints and allegations circulating on social media, noting that such claims, if left unaddressed, could escalate into public disorder. They added that statements are being taken from relevant parties as investigations continue.
The controversy gained public attention in December 2025 following a series of allegations online, including claims by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala. The actress accused the pastor of maintaining a prolonged intimate relationship with her over several years, reneging on promises of marriage and engaging in actions that negatively affected her personal life. The cleric has denied the allegations.
Amid the backlash, Okafor publicly addressed his church congregation late in December, offering a general apology for past actions and stepping aside from active pastoral duties pending the outcome of investigations. The episode, which included the pastor kneeling before the congregation, sparked widespread debate across social media platforms.
The Lagos State Police Command has assured that protective measures have been put in place for those who made allegations, while urging the public to allow due process to take its course. Investigations are ongoing, with authorities emphasizing that conclusions will be based strictly on evidence presented during the probe.
The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria is also reportedly reviewing the situation and considering appropriate disciplinary action as inquiries continue.
