Remo Stars Change Venue Ahead of New NPFL Season

Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions, Remo Stars, have confirmed the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta, as their temporary home ground for the 2025/26 season, which begins on Friday, August 22.

The club explained on Monday that the decision was taken due to ongoing renovation works at their Ikenne stadium, which hosted their title-winning campaign last season.

“Due to ongoing renovations at our stadium in Ikenne, the club can confirm a temporary home ground, the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta,” Remo Stars announced in a statement. “Come through, make some noise, and let’s turn Abeokuta into a fortress together. A return home is however imminent.”

The Ikene-based stars will launch their title defence this weekend against last season’s runners-up, Rivers United, in Abeokuta, before travelling to Owerri to face newly-promoted Kun-Khalifat. Their third fixture will bring them back to Abeokuta for a clash against Warri Wolves.

Remo Stars secured their first-ever NPFL crown last season after amassing 71 points, seven clear of Rivers United, following two previous campaigns where they narrowly missed out on the title. The club’s relocation is expected to test their resolve as they look to defend the historic championship.
