Scary Moment: Man Storms Stage During Dunsin Oyekan’s Ministration
A rather tense moment occurred during a recent worship session led by popular Nigerian gospel singer Dunsin Oyekan, when an unidentified man unexpectedly climbed the stage and held onto him tightly.
The incident, which has since gone viral, happened during a live ministration at a Christian programme.
As Dunsin led the congregation in worship, the man suddenly ran up to the stage, grabbed him, and clung tightly for several seconds. Despite quick intervention by ushers and protocol officers, the man resisted and refused to let go immediately.

It took the combined efforts of at least three men to detach him from the singer, causing a temporary disruption in the flow of the service.
Dunsin Oyekan, also known as The Eagle, remained calm and composed throughout the ordeal, not reacting violently or stepping back from his ministration.

Although the man was eventually removed by security personnel, his intentions remain unclear. It is not known whether he was moved by a spiritual experience, had a personal request, or acted out of impulse.
The incident has since raised questions among fans and churchgoers about the need for stronger security measures for gospel singers during their live ministrations, similar to what is common with secular artistes.

The viral video has drawn mixed reactions online, with many expressing concern for Dunsin’s safety and calling on churches and event organizers to pay closer attention to stage security during major gatherings.
Following the incident, many Nigerians took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to express amusement, shock, and concern over the growing need for tighter security at gospel events.
One user, Ajala of Web3 (@caleb_brig…), joked, “He wan tap anointing,” suggesting the man was trying to receive a spiritual blessing by physically connecting with the singer.

A comment from Herdeybukola highlighted how immersed some worshippers were despite the chaos: “Dem dey drag minister on stage, this woman still dey pray…”
Some users questioned the authenticity of the incident, speculating that it might have been staged. Craiggy79 simply posted, “STAGED!”.
Others turned to humour and biblical references. SIMPLE (@MAGAPETKIDS) wrote, “The woman with issue of blood don motivate this one,” referencing the popular Bible story of a woman who touched Jesus’ garment to receive healing.

In response to the viral moment, users like Rafaweb3 reacted with disbelief, saying, “Say wetin happen naaa,” while Amiczy Magnus dropped a comment that referenced the singer’s reputation: “Dunsin who we are pampering in Abuja…”
Meanwhile, in a separate development, Dunsin Oyekan recently paid tribute to his late wife, Doyin, who passed away on May 18, 2019, leaving behind their two children.
In a heartfelt message shared on social media, the worship leader marked the sixth anniversary of her passing in 2025, reflecting on her memory and the impact she had on his life and ministry.
Dunsin Oyekan remains one of the most respected figures in Nigeria’s gospel music scene, known for his deep spiritual worship sessions and inspirational songs.
The recent incident has, however, reminded many of the unpredictable nature of public events and the growing need for better security arrangements—even in sacred spaces.
