The Reason Omoni Oboli’s Movie Was Removed from YouTube Despite Reaching 6 Million Views
Nollywood actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli faced an unexpected setback after her latest movie, Love In Every Word, was removed from YouTube despite amassing over 6 million views.
The sudden takedown has left fans outraged, sparking debates over copyright disputes in the Nigerian film industry.
The movie, which premiered on March 7, 2025, gained massive traction, hitting 2 million views within 24 hours and continuing to climb in popularity.
However, a copyright infringement claim by Chinonso Obiora, the owner of Abuja-based Skyberry Studios, led to the unexpected removal. YouTube’s automated copyright system flagged the claim, resulting in the movie being taken down from Oboli’s official channel.
Fans visiting the channel were met with the message: “This video is no longer available due to copyright claims by Chinonso Obiora Skyberry.”
Following the removal, social media erupted with fans expressing their disappointment and questioning the legitimacy of the copyright claim. Many accused Obiora of trying to sabotage Oboli’s work, while others speculated that foul play might be involved.

A Twitter user, @MaziOlisaemeka, lamented:
“Why exactly did YouTube take down Omoni Oboli’s movie after it crossed the 6M mark? That’s really unfair.”
Another fan, @IrebamiOlakanm1, pointed out a disturbing pattern:
“Why are they always doing this to Omoni Oboli? This is the second time. Not when the movie ranked many views. I pity her, sha.”
Similarly, @EnochOwolabi questioned the entire dispute:
“How can people be this wicked? How do you claim rights to something that isn’t yours? A movie with over 7 million views is gone. I find it hard to believe that Omoni Oboli would be so careless as not to copyright her work.”
Amid the uproar, Omoni Oboli reassured her fans that the issue was being handled. Taking to Instagram, she described the situation as a “misunderstanding” and confirmed that it had been resolved.
“Hey besties, thank you for the love and concern. We deeply appreciate you all for your calls, messages, posts, tweets, comments—everything! I’m sorry I couldn’t respond at the time,” she wrote.
“There was a little misunderstanding with our movie Love In Every Word. It’s been sorted out now, and we are back stronger than ever!”
She encouraged her followers to continue supporting the movie and help push its views even higher.
With Love In Every Word now reinstated on YouTube, fans have rushed to reclaim the lost momentum, vowing to make it even more successful.
