Tinubu Urged to Connect with Nigerians on Security Crisis
The African Democratic Congress has called on President Bola Tinubu to step out of the Presidential Villa and interact directly with citizens to understand the true extent of Nigeria’s security challenges.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics on Wednesday, Bolaji Abdullahi, a spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), criticized claims that insecurity has declined under Tinubu’s leadership. He suggested the president is receiving misleading information from state governors and aides.

Abdullahi’s remarks were in response to Daniel Bwala, a media aide to Tinubu, who argued on the same program that insecurity has significantly reduced. Bwala pointed to progress in states like Benue and Plateau and a drop in activities linked to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and other violent groups.
“Criminal activities persist globally, and Nigeria is no exception,” Bwala said, adding that these issues are not solely tied to governance.
However, Abdullahi countered that many communities across Nigeria remain gripped by fear, with citizens facing constant threats from criminal elements. He expressed concern that overly optimistic reports from aides and governors are creating a distorted view for the president.
“Tinubu needs to hear directly from the people, not just those around him,” Abdullahi said, urging the president to engage with ordinary Nigerians to grasp the reality on the ground.
