Tiwa Savage addresses feud with Seyi Shay, denies sabotaging fellow artistes

Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has spoken publicly about her long-standing rift with fellow artiste Seyi Shay, shedding light on the 2021 salon altercation that reignited tensions between them.
In an interview on Off Air with Gbemi O and Toolz, uploaded on Saturday, the Somebody’s Son crooner said the misunderstanding was fuelled by a diss track and rumours that she had tried to block opportunities for other female artistes. Tiwa dismissed the allegations, insisting she has always supported women in the music industry. “If you do something to me, I will let you know. I don’t have to let you know online. Like the whole shade thing, I’m not going to pretend we’re cool in a salon when you did a diss track,” she said.

The singer said she was hurt by claims that she had stopped Seyi Shay and Victoria Kimani from securing deals, adding that she never attempted to undermine anyone’s career. “I heard they thought I blocked their bag. How? If you’ve heard from anybody that I tried to block your bag, mention the person so I can address it. I would never do that I’m so pro-women,” she stated. Tiwa also revealed that Seyi Shay once replaced her as a brand ambassador for a Pepsi campaign in 2015 after she was dropped due to pregnancy.
“When I got pregnant with Jamil, I was taken off the Pepsi campaign, and Shay was booked instead. I wasn’t even angry. I just went to the gym and got my body back,” she recounted. The feud between both artistes reportedly began in 2017 after Seyi Shay’s verse on the viral ‘Fvck You Challenge’ by Kizz Daniel was interpreted as a dig at Tiwa. Tiwa’s latest comments suggest that the bad blood may have stemmed from years of industry gossip and miscommunication rather than direct conflict.
