Victor Osimhen Becomes Most Valuable Player in Turkish Super Lig

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has made history as the most valuable player to ever feature in the Turkish Super Lig, with his market valuation of €100 million surpassing all previous signings by a significant margin.

The Nigerian international, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli last summer after failed moves to Chelsea and Saudi Arabia, has justified his worth with 19 goals in 24 appearances across all competitions.

According to Transfermarkt, Osimhen’s €100 million valuation is far ahead of second-placed Nicolò Zaniolo, who was valued at €30 million when he moved from Roma to Galatasaray in 2023.

His name tops a list that includes high-profile players such as Jean Michael Seri (€25m), Steven Nzonzi (€23m), Mauro Icardi (€22m), and Wilfried Zaha (€22m).

With his loan spell at Galatasaray set to end in June, Osimhen could be on the move again this summer, with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain both reportedly tabling verbal offers.

Turkish journalist Yagiz Sabuncuoglu disclosed that both clubs have reached an agreement with Napoli to trigger the striker’s €75 million release clause, which becomes active in the summer transfer window.

“Victor Osimhen is about to sign with a world-renowned management company, and a Real Madrid player is helping facilitate the discussions. This significantly reduces the chances of him staying at Galatasaray beyond June,” Sabuncuoglu revealed.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is believed to have identified Osimhen as his primary target to bolster the club’s attack, given the struggles of current strikers Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee in adapting to the English Premier League.

United’s football department, led by Jason Wilcox, is exploring different transfer strategies, including a potential player-exchange deal, though Napoli reportedly prefers a straight cash transaction.

Osimhen’s arrival at Galatasaray was met with skepticism after his €130 million release clause deterred potential buyers last summer.

However, he has silenced critics with outstanding performances, helping the club dominate the Turkish league and progress to the UEFA Europa League knockout stages.

His continued rise adds another chapter to his already illustrious career, having played a key role in Napoli’s historic 2022/23 Serie A title triumph scoring 26 league goals and becoming the first African to win the Capocannoniere.

With both clubs keen on securing his signature, Osimhen’s decision could shape the next phase of his career. PSG offers the guarantee of Champions League football and domestic dominance, while United presents an opportunity to lead a Premier League resurgence under Amorim.

Despite the transfer buzz, Osimhen remains focused on his current club, as he aims to guide Galatasaray to more success before the summer window opens.
