WATCH: The US Department of Justice has released a 45-second video showing the US military seizing an oil tanker near the coast of Venezuela.
The footage, posted by US Attorney General Pam Bondi, shows military helicopters approaching the tanker, followed by US troops boarding the vessel. The operation, led by the US Coast Guard, was announced by President Donald Trump on Wednesday.
The tanker, according to Bondi, was allegedly involved in transporting sanctioned oil from Venezuela and Iran. Retired US Marine Corps Colonel Mark Cancian, reports explained that such operations “rarely” involve violence and are typically carried out without incident.
