Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has called on Nigerians to remain patient amid prevailing economic challenges, assuring that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies will set the nation on a path to sustainable growth.

Speaking in Ibadan, after a condolence visit to Governor Seyi Makinde, Wike emphasized that while current economic reforms may cause temporary hardship, they are necessary to stabilize and transform the country.

The Minister, accompanied by former Governors Samuel Ortom (Benue) and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), as well as prominent politicians including Senators Sandy Onor, Philip Aduda, Olaka Nwogu, Mao Ohuabunwa, and former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Chibudom Nwuche, reassured Nigerians that positive outcomes would soon materialize.

Wike criticized what he described as the public’s short memory regarding past economic conditions, stressing that Tinubu’s administration inherited a struggling economy and is implementing bold policies to address systemic issues.

“This country was on the brink before this administration took over,” Wike stated. “Nigerians need to be patient. Economic recovery is not instantaneous; it requires time and strategic reforms.”

Acknowledging the immediate impact of subsidy removal and other fiscal policies, Wike maintained that these measures are crucial for long-term stability and prosperity.

The FCT Minister urged citizens to trust in the administration’s vision, assuring them that better days lie ahead.

“The policies Mr. President is introducing may come with initial discomfort, but they are designed to reposition the economy,” he said. “At the end of the day, will we achieve our goals? Yes. There is no need to panic.”
