Women March Back Rivers Emergency Declaration
Hundreds of women took to the streets of Port Harcourt on Monday to show their support for the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, adding a fresh layer to the state’s ongoing political tension.
Dressed in white, the women began their peaceful rally at Garrison Bus Stop around 8 a.m., singing solidarity songs as they moved through Aba Road toward the Government House. Their message was clear, backing the leadership of the Sole Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd).

The protest is the latest development in a state deeply divided by political disagreement. Just last week, another group under the banner “Rivers Women for Sim” staged a counter-demonstration rejecting the state of emergency and supporting Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who is currently facing political challenges.
