No Ebola in Abuja, NCDC Confirms After Tests
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) has confirmed that no cases of Ebola or Marburg virus have been detected in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This follows tests on a traveller who recently returned to Abuja from Kigali and sought medical attention after feeling unwell.
The NCDC praised the traveller for promptly reporting symptoms, which allowed health authorities to act quickly and reduce any potential risk to the public.
Initial tests ruled out Ebola and Marburg, but further testing for other viral hemorrhagic fevers, such as Lassa and Dengue, is ongoing.

In a statement posted on its official X account, the NCDC urged Nigerians to stay vigilant and seek immediate medical care if they experience symptoms like fever, bleeding, vomiting, or diarrhoea, especially after travel. The agency also emphasized the importance of regular handwashing and avoiding contact with sick individuals.
The NCDC encouraged the public to rely on its official updates and avoid spreading unverified information. “Early reporting and quick action keep us safe,” the statement noted, commending the swift response of healthcare workers involved.

This update follows concerns raised when passengers on a Rwanda Air flight to Abuja displayed symptoms that initially raised fears of Ebola. The NCDC’s prompt response and testing have reassured residents that the situation is under control.
