Gunmen Kill Catholic Priest in Enugu Ambush

Unknown assailants shot and killed Rev. Fr. Mathew Eya, a Catholic priest, on Friday evening along Eha-Ndiagu road in Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State, as he returned to his parish, St. Charles Catholic Church.

Eyewitnesses said the attackers, riding a motorcycle, ambushed Fr. Eya’s vehicle near a hospital construction site. They fired at the car’s tyres, forcing it to stop, then shot the priest multiple times at close range. A passenger in the vehicle escaped unharmed, and the gunmen fled immediately after the attack.
