Dangote Petrol Now Sold at N825 per Litre
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has again slashed the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from N835 to N825 per litre.
This development follows a series of recent reductions by the refinery. Just last month, Dangote dropped its petrol price twice within one week, reducing it by N45 from N880 to N835 per litre.
These petrol price cuts are seen as part of efforts to solidify the refinery’s dominance in the local fuel market and offer consumers more affordable petrol.
The Punch confirmed on Monday, May 12, that although marketers continue to pay N835 per litre upfront, a rebate of N10 is refunded to them after successful product loading and evacuation from the refinery.
Dangote Refinery Cuts Petrol Price Again to ₦835 Per Litre
“The Dangote refinery has started giving a rebate on its products. It’s not an official reduction yet, but paid back after marketers buy products from them,” The Punch revealed.
This petrol price adjustment enables marketers to retail petrol at between N830 and N835 per litre, with a discount against import based competitors and depot owners.
The move is believed to be tied to the reimplementation of the Naira-for-Crude agreement between the Federal Government and local refiners, a deal that had previously been suspended under former NNPCL GCEO, Mele Kyari.
Some Industry observers noted that the price reduction is not just a market strategy but a sign of increasing stability in local refining and supply chains.
It is also a signal to the broader market that Dangote is prepared to drive down costs despite ongoing challenges in the energy sector.
Dangote Refinery Cuts Petrol Ex-Depot Price to ₦867
Although an official confirmation from Dangote Group’s spokesperson, Anthony Chiejina, is yet to be released, sources have confirmed the price adjustment. According to them, the refinery has indeed effected the N10 rebate, effectively bringing the ex-depot price down to N825 per litre.
