Akpabio Urges Patience as Tinubu’s Reforms Take Root

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on Nigerians to remain patient with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, assuring that ongoing reforms are setting the stage for long-term economic and social progress.

Speaking at the Second Plenary of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, Akpabio compared nation-building to constructing a cathedral, saying, “A nation is not raised overnight, but stone by stone, prayer by prayer, hand by hand. Do not despair when the winds blow strong or the scaffolding shakes.”

He emphasized the need for unity and collaboration across society, urging citizens, government, and religious institutions to work together toward national development. “Transformation is not the burden of one arm of society, nor the privilege of a select few; it is a covenant of partnership,” he said.

The plenary gathered Catholic bishops, clergy, lawmakers, political leaders, and the Apostolic Nuncio, Most Rev. Michael Crotty, who conveyed the Pope’s blessings to the Nigerian Church.
