APC Calls for Cancellation of Violent Kano By-Elections
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to stop the bye-election in Shanono/Bagwai Constituency and the rerun election in Ghari Constituency, pointing to widespread violence that has disrupted voting.
In a Saturday statement, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka reported chaos at polling stations across Shanono, Bagwai, and Ghari, with armed thugs intimidating voters and causing many to flee.

He noted that security forces were unable to control the situation, making a fair election impossible.
The APC argued that proceeding with the elections would undermine democracy and legitimize electoral violence. The party pressed INEC to cancel both polls to uphold the integrity of the voting process and protect Nigeria’s democratic principles.
INEC has not yet commented on the APC’s request, as reports of unrest persist in the affected areas.
