The Berom Youth Moulders Association confirmed the incident, stating that the attackers arrived on a motorcycle and shot at residents before escaping through a route leading towards Fass along the Rakung-Sho road.

According to the association, Gyang was attacked while working on his farm near his home, while his wife was shot and died at the scene. He later died from gunshot wounds after being taken to hospital.

The group said the couple’s death has left their young twin boys orphaned.

It noted that the incident happened two days after Governor Caleb Mutfwang visited the area for a town hall meeting on security and a day after a State Security Council meeting where new measures were announced to tackle ongoing violence.
