Barron Trump Called UK Police After Witnessing Alleged Assault on Video Call
Barron Trump, the youngest son of US President Donald Trump, has told a UK court that he contacted the police after witnessing a woman being assaulted during a video call in January 2025. Trump, 19, reported the incident after a friend of the alleged victim reached out to him via social media, prompting him to call UK authorities.
During the trial of 22-year-old Matvei Rumiantsev, who faces charges of assault and two counts of rape, Barron provided evidence in the form of a police call transcript. The call, made from the US, detailed Trump’s immediate reaction to what he saw during the call, which lasted just a few seconds. Barron described how the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was crying and being hit while on the call.

Rumiantsev denies the charges, which he claims occurred in the early hours of 18 January, following an argument with the woman. He says their interaction escalated after drinking together, and he held her arms in self-defence when she became hysterical.
Barron said he made the call after seeing the woman in distress. “I just figured out how to call someone… this is really an emergency,” he told the operator. Despite the brief footage, he insisted that the situation was dire, noting that the woman’s phone call had been picked up by a man, whom he later identified as Rumiantsev. Barron said he immediately contacted his friends to call the police in the UK, who responded by arresting Rumiantsev later that morning.
The trial continues with Rumiantsev maintaining his innocence, while prosecutors claim that the defendant strangled the victim on the evening of 17 January. Further evidence is expected to be presented as the court hearing progresses.
